Yesterday Afternoon, Chief 701 and Rescue 738 were dispatched to Rt. 295 for a commercial motor vehicle accident. Companies arrived to a find a single tractor trailer that hit the sound wall and split the trailer as well as ruptured the diesel tanks. Crews from 738 and Rescue 32 quickly deployed the catch basin to collect the leaking fuel and placed oil dry to contain some of the fuel on the ground from leaking into nearby storm drains. Command then requested the hazmat unit out of Cherry Hill to unload the remaining fuel in the tanks. Companies remained on location for fire protection until all the fuel was unloaded and a the hazmat team deemed the situation under control.
