35th Anniversary of the Westville Fire Department

As we celebrated our history for the past 2 years honoring the volunteers of the Union and Independent Fire Companies, now it’s our time. 35 years ago today, January 1, 1988, those two organizations became one, the incorporation of the Westville Fire Department.

In 1988 the goal of the Westville Fire Department was to provide better fire protection, modernization of the Fire apparatus fleet and to be a contributing part of the community into the future.

In 1988 the membership was made up from both fire companies, as time has passed, we’ve become our own. Most members today weren’t born at the time of the merger. Our success is contributed to all that have served. All of the members from 1988 are original founding members but there is a small few that have been active members for 35 years consecutive and are Life Members of the Department; Fritz Sims Jr., Charles Murtaugh, Bruce Nordaby, Jeffery Paul, Eric Farley, Michael Holick, David Bowerman and Lee Krips. Theses 8 men continue on the path that was set fourth all those years ago.

Today we still strive to do our best to provide Fire and Medical Response and to remain a contributing part of the community! This Fire Department belongs to all of you the residents of the Borough of Westville!

We will continue our mission, remember our past and be dedicated to our future. Here is to the next 35 years…
